Insurance Consumer Advocate Announces Meeting of Resource Board
Health insurance resources for Iowans a focus of Board
(DES MOINES) June 17, 2011– The Iowa Insurance Consumer Advocate, Angel Robinson, announces the first Consumer Assistance Resource Board Meeting. The Consumer Assistance Resource Board was established to extend the consumer base served by Iowa's Consumer Assistance Program (CAP). The Consumer Assistance Resource Board’s main objective is to operate in a structured way to share opinions and perspectives on each Board member’s constituency group and to make suggestions for the benefit of health insurance needs of individual consumers and the community. The Board will not serve as a policy-making body or make policy recommendations. Instead, the board will play an important role in connecting consumers’ health insurance needs and concerns with resources and services available throughout Iowa. All the Resource Board members represent a range of nonprofits, consumer advocacy groups, or consumer based organizations that represent a range of constituency groups or work with diversified portions of the public as a whole.
"There are Iowans who have health insurance-related issues that have no idea about the different services offered in Iowa. I hope through the members of the Resource Board as well as through the Board's future outreach opportunities, Iowans will learn about the numerous health insurance resources available in the state of Iowa," says Robinson.
The meeting will be held on June 23, 2011 at the State Capitol Building in room G15, the Legislative Dining Room. The meeting will run from 2 pm - 4 pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
