How to Get Health Plan Details Other Than Through Website

Where, other than can you get more information about the plans available on the Marketplace?

For more information about each of the plans available on the Marketplace, visit the specific insurance companies offering plans in your area.

Each carrier can provide you with details about the plans that the carrier is offering on the Marketplace.  Such details include rates, plan details such as deductibles, copayments, out of pocket maximums, health care provider networks and the costs associated with using in network and out of network providers, costs associated with prescription drugs, costs associated with office visits and specialist visits, costs associated with X-rays and various other plan details.  In Iowa, six insurers have signed contracts to offer plans on the Marketplace.

Two of the companies, Coventry Health Care of Iowa, Inc. and CoOportunity Health, are offering statewide coverage for individual health care coverage, while CoOpportunity Health will also offer statewide small group plans. Two insurers will offer individual and small employer group plans for smaller regional markets. Those companies are Avera Health Plans and Gundersen Health Plan, Inc.  Two companies; Sanford Health and Health Alliance Midwest, Inc., will offer small group plans only. In addition, three companies will offer stand-alone dental plans on the Marketplace.  Please find the contact information for each insurer below:

You may also use an Insurance Agent or broker to obtain plan details.  Whatever method you choose, it is important to know that you will not receive any tax credits or cost sharing subsidies that you may be eligible for unless you enroll through the Marketplace.  However, you are still free to choose a major medical health insurance plan off of the Marketplace to avoid the tax penalty that will be imposed upon non-exempt individuals who do not have major medical health insurance in 2014.
